Selfcare Tips To Boost Your Mental Health
Your mental health and well being is extremely important. You should always put your best interests before anything. Although it may seem harsh to do, ensuring that you’re OK in a situation or with a decision should be your priority. For example, if you don’t feel like going out for dinner that night, let your friends know that you’re going to have time to yourself with a facemask and a book instead.

These are designed to give you some short goals and tips on what you can be doing to improve or maintain your mental health. Remember, self care is important. 10 Everyday Self Care Tips
- Maintain a skincare routine – We’ll go into this
- Make plans for at least once a week – It’s good to socialise and catch up
- Have a dance! 10 minutes a day can really brighten your mood
- Do something you enjoy – Treat yourself, it could be an online purchase, a coffee to work or even a yoga session
- Light a candle – They’re great for relaxation
- Drink at least 2 litres of water
- Exercise each day, and mix it up if you can
- Have time to yourself – Be it a bath, facemask or a read, you need to take time out for yourself
- Keep a balanced diet – Food can really affect your mood
- Have plenty of rest – Always aim for at least 8 hours of sleep
Remember, you should always take time out for yourself. But don’t ever feel like you need to isolate yourself from others. Whilst ‘me time’ is beneficial for both your mental and physical self, spending time with others and your loved ones is extremely important too. Hugs can also change a mood or make someone’s day too, so don’t be afraid to share some hugs! (With people you know of course!).
Tips For the Best Skincare Routine
As mentioned above, we’d like to share some tips on perfecting your skincare routine. The most important tip being to research the products you use. Whilst one may sound great from an advert or from a shop counter, you should always do your own research to see both customer reviews and if it’s beneficial to use on your skin type. For example, oily skin, dry skin and sensitive skin are all different skin types and will require different products.
So, do your research in advance before you purchase any products and try to stick to the following routine:
Morning
- Cleanse
- Tone
- Eyecream
- Serums
- Moisturiser
- SPF
Night
- Double cleanse
- Tone
- Eyecream
- Apply a Retinol (Speak to a skincare professional first)
- Serums
- Night cream
This could differ slightly for some people and you may use additional products but this is the standard order you should work to when it comes to skincare.
Self Checks You Should Also Do Regularly
There are many self checks you should do on a regular basis. Male or female, you should be checking areas of your body each month. For example, women should check their breasts and men should check their testicles at least once a month. You can book both a women’s health appointment and a men’s health appointment with us.
What Else Can I Do For Better Selfcare?
Selfcare should always be based around you. So, if you like to have plenty to do each day, then always try to maintain this, this could be sports, meeting up with friends or shopping. And if you like to relax, then give yourself relaxing tasks like yoga, reading or meditating. You should always talk to friends and family too as this can be a great way to off load and share any feelings.
Another thing to consider is having a health check, this will help if you’re feeling run down. Whilst at Broadgate GP, we specialise in same day GP appointments and sexual health, we can also help with other services such as: ear syringing, family planning, blood tests and much more.
