What Travel Vaccines Will I Need For Europe?

Although the vaccinations for Europe you require will depend on the area you’re travelling to there are standard ones that are typically required across all countries. In terms of travelling to Europe, you may need to have one or more of the following travel vaccines:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Polio
  • Rabies
  • Tetanus
  • Diphtheria
  • Typhoid
  • Yellow Fever

Due to the vast range of countries that are part of Europe, the countries have been split into groups that show what vaccines are required depending on the country you’re travelling to.

European Vaccines By Group

GROUP A – Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Rumania Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia,Ukraine, Yugoslavia.

Mandatory Vaccines: Hepatitis A, Polio and Tetanus. Long term stay (3 Months or more) will also require Diphtheria, Rabies and Hepatitis B.

Group B – Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Lichtenstein, Malta, Monaco Netherlands Norway, Portugal (including Madeira and that the Azores), San Marino Spain (including the Canaries), Sweden, Switzerland.

Recommend Vaccines: Tetanus

Group C – Albania

Mandatory Vaccines: Hepatitis A, Polio, Tetanus and Typhoid. Long term stay (3 Months or more) Diphtheria, Hepatitis B and Rabies.

Group D – Greece

Mandatory Vaccines: Hepatitis A and Tetanus. Yellow Fever Certification if required if entering from a country that has endemic status.

This is because some travel vaccines are given in a course of vaccinations that are administered over several weeks.
